What can you create with the Italkero Focus?

Focus is a built-in open-flame gas fire designed to give you freedom over the finished fireplace. It comes in five widths, so it can sit inside anything from a compact fireplace opening to a long architectural feature — while the surround, materials and proportions remain yours to design.

Which Focus size should I choose?

There are five sizes: Focus 40, 60, 80, 130 and 180. The overall widths run from approximately 373mm to 1,857mm, so the choice is as much about the proportion of the fireplace as the available opening. The larger models also have higher maximum gas input, from 8.3kW on Focus 40 to 15kW on Focus 180.

Can Focus be used to convert an existing fireplace?

Potentially, yes. Italkero’s installation guidance specifically covers the re-use of an existing wood-burning fireplace and flue, making Focus particularly interesting for projects where you want to retain the architecture of an existing fireplace but change how the fire is used. The existing opening and flue still need to meet the installation requirements.

Is Focus suitable for a new bespoke fireplace too?

Yes. Focus can be built into a new fireplace design, with the surrounding materials and proportions determined by your architect, interior designer or builder. The downloadable Italkero technical guides on this page set out the standard dimensions, installation positions, flue requirements and clearances they need to design around the burner.

How controllable is the flame?

Focus includes infrared remote control for on/off and flame adjustment, so the flame can be reduced or increased once the fire is operating. The electronic controls also interrupt the gas supply automatically if a fault is detected.

Does Focus need a chimney or flue indoors?

Yes. Focus is an open-flame appliance and an indoor installation requires combustion products to be taken outside. Italkero specifies a minimum 180mm flue, with detailed guidance for both existing and new flue arrangements.

Is Focus straightforward to specify for a UK project?

Yes. You can download the installation guide, installation and maintenance manual and individual model datasheets directly from this page, giving your architect, interior designer, builder and Gas Safe engineer the manufacturer information they need to work from the same specification.

How is Focus powered and controlled?

Focus is supplied with an infrared remote control for on/off and flame adjustment. The standard setup is battery-powered, so mains electricity is not required. If preferred, an optional 6V DC power kit can be specified to avoid replacing the receiver batteries.

Should I choose Natural Gas or LPG?

Focus is available for Natural Gas or LPG. Select the fuel that suits the property and planned installation; the appliance must be configured for the correct gas type.

Can I choose logs or pebbles?

Yes. Focus can be finished with Italkero’s ceramic log set or pebble kit, so the flame can read as a more familiar fireplace or a cleaner contemporary installation.

The Italkero Focus is an open-flame gas fire insert designed to make real flame easier to place beautifully. Available in five sizes, it gives homeowners and designers the freedom to create a gas fire feature that suits the room — from a restored traditional fireplace to a clean, modern surround.

Designed as a compact insert rather than a full fireplace structure, Focus is practical to specify into a suitable fireplace opening, recess or custom-built feature. Adjustable feet, an integrated gas valve and infrared remote-control operation make installation more straightforward while leaving room for creative design. Choose Natural Gas or LPG, then shape the finish around the setting.

Unlike many sealed gas fires, Focus uses an open linear flame and ceramic fuel bed to create the warmth, movement and atmosphere of a real fire. Its low-profile design allows the flame to sit naturally within a fireplace opening, bespoke housing or feature wall without dominating the space.
