Product Details

A complete architectural shade system designed to create a cooler, more comfortable outdoor space with the structural strength needed for exposed locations.

The AEMYR High-Tensile Garden Shade Sail combines a sculptural fabric canopy with four galvanised steel posts and stainless steel rigging, supplied together as one engineered system.

Designed to the LC60 standard, the structure is suitable for sustained wind speeds of up to 60 mph when correctly installed with foundations appropriate to the site.

At the centre of the system is GALE Commercial NinetyFive 340, a high-performance architectural shade fabric offering up to 96% UV protection while allowing heat and air to move through the canopy.

The result is substantial outdoor shade without enclosing the space, making it particularly well suited to private gardens, terraces, hospitality settings, rural accommodation and open sites where comfort, appearance and resilience all matter.

Made to order in West Sussex.

Available in two standard sizes:

  • 4 × 4 m

  • 5 × 5 m

Natural is supplied as standard, with a broad architectural colour palette also available.

A more comfortable outdoor space

Good shade changes how an outdoor space can be used.

Commercial NinetyFive 340 blocks up to 96% of UV radiation, helping reduce direct solar exposure across seating, dining, play, relaxation and working areas.

Unlike a solid roof, the knitted fabric remains breathable. Air and heat can move through the canopy, maintaining the openness of the garden or landscape while creating a noticeably more comfortable place beneath it.

The permeable construction also avoids the enclosed feeling of a conventional roofed structure, making the canopy particularly effective where the view, landscape and connection with the outdoors are part of the appeal.

Engineered for exposed locations

The canopy, posts and rigging are engineered as a complete system rather than assembled as separate components.

Designed to the LC60 standard, the structure is suitable for sustained wind speeds of up to 60 mph when correctly installed with foundations designed for the location.

This gives the system the structural resilience required for more demanding outdoor settings, including open gardens, rural properties, campsites, cabins, farm stays and hospitality sites where exposure is an important consideration.

The system is also engineered for snow loading of up to 300 mm, subject to correct installation and foundations appropriate to the site.

Final structural performance depends on the complete installation, including ground conditions, foundation design, post positioning and ongoing maintenance.

Architectural-grade shade fabric

A long-term outdoor structure deserves a material whose composition and performance are clearly documented.

GALE Commercial NinetyFive 340 is a 340 gsm architectural-grade HDPE fabric developed specifically for tensile shade structures, awnings and shade sails.

It combines high tensile strength with long-term UV performance and has been used as part of GALE's commercial shade portfolio for more than 25 years.

The fabric is supported by independently tested material and performance credentials, giving the finished canopy a level of traceability and assurance beyond appearance alone.

Material quality and certification

Commercial NinetyFive is manufactured free from lead and phthalates and is also specified as PFAS free.

It carries both OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GREENGUARD certification, providing independent assurance around the substances used within the textile and its chemical emissions.

Commercial NinetyFive is identified by GALE as the first architectural shade fabric to have been granted both OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GREENGUARD certification.

For an outdoor structure intended to remain in use for many years, these credentials provide useful reassurance about the quality and composition of the material as well as its physical performance.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is an independent textile certification for materials tested for substances considered harmful to human health.

GREENGUARD

GREENGUARD certification relates to low chemical emissions from manufactured materials and provides independent verification against defined emissions standards.

Lead and phthalate free

Commercial NinetyFive is manufactured without lead or phthalates, providing clear information about the composition of the fabric used within the finished structure.

PFAS free

The fabric is also specified as PFAS free, adding further transparency around its material composition.

Designed for long-term outdoor use

Commercial NinetyFive 340 carries a 15-year manufacturer UV warranty for the standard fabric, subject to the manufacturer's terms.

The warranty reflects the fabric's intended role as a long-term architectural shade material rather than a temporary seasonal covering.

Its knitted HDPE construction is designed to combine tensile strength, UV resistance and low maintenance for continued use outdoors.

Fire performance

Commercial NinetyFive 340 has independently tested and published flammability performance data covering ignitability, spread of flame, heat evolved and smoke developed.

For projects with defined flame-retardant requirements, Commercial NinetyFive is also manufactured in a dedicated 340 FR specification with recognised fire-performance classifications.

Where outdoor cooking equipment, heaters or open-flame appliances form part of the setting, their required clearances should be considered as part of the overall canopy layout.

Sculptural hypar form

The canopy is tensioned between alternating high and low fixing points to create its distinctive double-curved hypar form.

The geometry is both functional and architectural. The opposing fixing heights maintain tension across the fabric while giving the canopy its sculptural profile.

Different post lengths are supplied as part of each system to establish the required variation in height.

The result is a shade structure that reads as part of the landscape and architecture rather than simply as an overhead covering.

Where it works

The High-Tensile Garden Shade Sail System is particularly suited to outdoor spaces where strong sun, exposure and the quality of the finished environment all need to be considered.

Suitable settings include:

  • Private gardens and terraces

  • Outdoor dining and entertaining areas

  • Hotels and hospitality

  • Restaurants and pubs

  • Campsites and glamping sites

  • Holiday cabins and lodges

  • Farm stays

  • Rural accommodation

  • Visitor attractions

  • Outdoor learning and activity spaces

  • Agricultural settings

  • Livestock shade

Its breathable construction is designed primarily for shade, airflow and UV protection rather than creating a waterproof roof.

Colour

Natural is supplied as the standard fabric colour and is included within the displayed price.

Commercial NinetyFive is also available in an extensive architectural palette, including warm neutrals, sands, greys, greens, blues, ochres and stronger accent colours.

This allows the canopy to be selected in response to the surrounding architecture, planting, landscape or wider design scheme rather than treated as an isolated addition.

Fabric samples can be arranged for projects requiring an alternative colour.

Delivery and lead time

Each canopy system is made to order in West Sussex.

Typical production lead time is approximately four to five weeks, with timing confirmed when the order is placed.

Specialist delivery is arranged according to the selected canopy size, postcode and site access.

Foundations and installation

Correct foundations are fundamental to the performance of a tensile canopy.

Ground conditions, foundation design, post positioning and fixing heights all form part of the finished structural system.

Foundations, groundworks and installation are therefore specified separately rather than included within the standard displayed price.

Installation can be quoted following review of the site, location and project requirements.

Bespoke tensile canopy projects

The 4 × 4 m and 5 × 5 m systems provide two straightforward starting points for many outdoor spaces.

For larger areas, different footprints, alternative colours or more complex locations, bespoke tensile canopy configurations are also available.

The canopy can be developed around the architecture, intended use and conditions of the site, with CAD drawings, fabrication, delivery and installation available as part of a separately quoted project.

Product imagery

Images show examples of installed tensile shade structures and may include bespoke or site-specific configurations.

The exact proportions, post positions, installed heights and canopy geometry of the standard 4 × 4 m and 5 × 5 m systems will reflect the selected size, foundation design and conditions of the site.
